Filipino-American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Tristan Arenal is looking to bounce back and notch another win in his burgeoning MMA career.
Arenal was riding a four-win winning streak with all of his last four victories coming by knockout or submission. Arenal displayed his full offensive arsenal by registering wins by either knocking out his opponents or executing submission moves like a rear naked choke and an armbar.
But the California based Fil-Am fighter’s hot streak came to a screeching halt after John Tuck of Guam knocked him out at PXC 28 last November.
The fight with Tuck was a seesaw, fast and furious battle until Tuck connected with an overhand right and a few more heavy blows which knocked out Arenal in the very first round of the scheduled three-round match at the 1:13 mark.
Arenal will have a chance to redeem himself and get back to the win column in the upcoming PXC 31 at the Ynares Stadium in Pasig on July 14, 2012.
The Fil-Am fighter will be matched against Filipino fighter Richie Redman, an MMA fighter sporting a 2-win, 1-loss record.
Although Arenal is considered the more experienced fighter, the fight with Redman is expected to be as exciting as the other fights that Arenal was involved in.
With another win Arenal, who fought under Strikeforce before joining PXC, will get closer to a shot at the PXC lightweight title currently held by Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento.
Despite losing in his last fight, Arenal’s exciting fighting style continues to attract Filipinos to MMA.
