Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), Asia-Pacific's Premier Mixed Martial Arts organization, is proud to announce that PXC Fighter JJ Ambrose has been selected by Bellator Fighting Championships to compete in their upcoming Season 6 Light-Weight Tournament, starting on March 23rd in Texas.
Ambrose joins Jon Tuck as the 2 most recent PXC Fighters to take their talents to the United States to compete in the world’s most presidios MMA shows. PXC Fighter Jon Tuck was a recent contestant on the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter Season 15, also competing in the Light-Weight Division. Ambrose also starred on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Season 12 in 2010.
J.J. Ambrose, who hails from Lakewood, California, has spent significant time training in Guam with some of the island’s best, and is undefeated in 5 appearances in Pacific X-treme Combat. His overall record is 17 -3, with 4 Knockouts, 9 Submissions, and 3 wins by Decision, including his last victorious bout at PXC27 in Guam. Ambrose has been teaching and training in Thailand with the Tiger Muay Thai camp. In his Bellator debut, Ambrose is scheduled to fight Bellator veteran, Brent Weedman, on March 23, 2012 at Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. Weedman is 6 feet tall, and holds a record of 18 – 7, with 10 Knockouts and 7 Submission.
Bellator was founded in 2008, and recently purchased by Viacom Media, parent of MTV Networks. Bellator is one of the only MMA shows primarily structured around a tournament format. The tournament winner is declared the number one contender and is awarded a check for $100,000 and a shot at the reigning world champion. Bellator Season 6 will be featured live in prime time by MTV2 nation-wide. The tournament will run from March 9 through April 13, with a total of 6 events including various weight classes. This will be the first time Bellator will hold five separate tournaments in a single season.
